Every year, local government of Muscat Oman organizes a traditional event called Muscat Festival to showcase heritage village and traditional Omani arts, crafts and games. The event is also highlighted with  diverse performances and activities that attract local and international visitors.

Braving the cold night weather of January we went out to witness this yearly event of the city. Driving through the cold night I wonder if the trip would really worth it.

Reaching the place in Naseem Garden Barka, we were greeted by big flock of people wishing to witness and be amazed by the eye-opener this event could bring. Checking on the vicinity map my lovelies spotted the dinosaur show which spread around the area. We followed the path and we were surprised to find varieties of dinosaurs which well exceeded our expectations!

We checked them one by one as if we're on a treasure hunt. Even the figures are just simulation of the real thing (which of course we don't have at the moment), we were amazed at the fact that these creatures once roamed our planet earth back in time. Sound simulation makes them more realistic by hearing how they have sounded in real life.

We simply weren't able to get enough staring at this close-to-real creatures in front of us. Roaring and screeching as if they want to chase and devour us! Woah!

At last some friendly-looking dinosaur greeted us. Its long and sleek neck suggests that he is not at all ferocious. This long-necked hervibore called Brachiosaurus gave us a rest from the scary looking ones :)

Dino-gazers are not only us but bunch of excited folks ready to be amazed by the night.

Treasure hunt is on. Here we saw what looks like a family of dinosaurs with the baby clinging to his mom.

My lovelies never get tired of striking a pose for me :))

Still a dinosaur in the middle of Japanese garden. The Japanese garden is another highlight of the place. It offers a very relaxing ambiance with its fine landscape and small architecture of posts and shades.

Still enjoying their time around.

Aside from dinosaur and garden show, there is also an array of shops at the side of the garden featuring traditional accessories and antiques.

Colorful and big accessories is one highlight of Omani culture which they still keep at present times. They love everything colorful from the fabric of their dresses to every accessory in the body.

Lawrence wondering at one strange necklace :)

Finally, finding their place in the night, the bumping cars!

They played with big boys who were too energetic for young boys like them. But they like the thrill of messing up the game with boys way bigger than them.

It was a night filled with fun and amazement, and it's really worth the trip. I listed here some few things to do at Muscat Festival.

Seven things to do at Muscat Festival:

1) Watch the hair-raising caged motocross show.

2) Ride the kiddie train or horse wagon around the area.
3) Search for dinosaurs.
4) Graze through the souqs/shops and buy unique items.
5) Eat Omani halwa.
6) Play endlessly in the assortment of amusement games.
7) Take photos :)

Thanks for reading. 'Till next... Ciao!

  1. Nice clicks, Vhie !

I say they are nice is because I clicked these very same ones and mine didn't quite turn out this good.

Perhaps you are using a professional camera, unlike I.
