Oman is a beautiful, peaceful, safe country which make it a great welcome for any first-timer in the gulf. Though not a first timer, I am still amazed by the exotic places at every nook and edge that boarders the seawater from its unique landscapes  called desserts. As a long staying expat in the country, I have the long range of opportunity to explore much of the places at my own time. This time, during the holidays of Prophet Mohammed and to celebrate Oman's National Day, locals and expats alike enjoyed a five-day holidays on end. Fortunately this getaway bug got the pleasant chance of camping at Finz Beach. For Finz location you can check the Google map below:

The distance from Muscat to Fins is approximately 110 km/68 miles which is fairly a crow-flying-distance as they say. A fair distance if you are looking for a light adventure out of Muscat.

As a city driver, following someone on a convoy during the long drive is half the work done making it an advantage to travel in group. Driving through Amirat mountains towards Sur took 1.5 hours at 120 kph; an amazing experience for road lovers.

Above is the direction to Finz Beach from Muscat Grand Mall if you are coming from somewhere around. If not, you can adjust the starting point of the route in Google directions.

When you see this sign post overlooking the beach, you know you are in the right way :)

You definitely wouldn't mind the distance drive if you're going to be rewarded by this scenery. Fresh and crisp seawater bordering the dessert edge making the spot perfect to behold. Temperature is at 24 degree Celsius at day time which dropped to 11 degree Celsius during the night time! That comes as a surprise since we never anticipated such cold weather in the night.

Summer tent was all up but couldn't help with the freezing cold night. The getaway bug thought she could withstand the freezing cold temperature, till the commitment to sleep in the tent faded away and she ended up spending the rest of the night inside the car :)

Finz beach has extremely beautiful shore  no wonder we have neighboring campers that made noises during the night which added to the freezing distress. And to add the fact that I didn't consider packing a blanket!

After a cold night the glorious sunrise presented itself and  melted away all those cold night blues.

Thanks to this ever loyal 'pau pau' (Hyundai Tucson Limited Edition) which served as the sanctuary for the  night. Even he is meant only for fine city drive however this getaway bug bring him off-roading. All. The. Time.

Morning sunrise is always a great opportunity to capture shots of this almost unreal scenery around; only vast waters paired with desserts at the other side. To add to the amazement, there are no litters around, thanks goodness for the friendly campers who always clean up before they leave this haven.

From here, probably the first tip I can give about camping during winter season is not to forget a blanket along with other basic camping materials as below:

1. Blanket
2. Another blanket again to be very sure
3. Woods for camp fire / lighter or matches. Fire helps during the chilling night.
4. Loads of foods / barbecue grill
5. Water
6. Winter clothes/jackets
7. First aid kit

It's time to say goodbye to this exquisite haven, till next time again and thanks for the soul-soothing bounty that it entrusted us at this time of the day.

Have you ever gone camping at Finz Beach? You can tell me more about it, and if not, it is definitely worth a try.

Happy winter camping this season! Till next ciao!
