I love the fact that Greek god of sun and light Apollo grazes the sky everyday to give light and shine to the universe :) For all of us who spend most of our days in week inside an office cubicle or classroom, we certainly miss the benefits of having the sunshine especially that of early in the morning. Come the weekend and who has the courage to wake up early in the morning when there is no work to look forward to during the day.

During some lucky weekend, I have the chance of a stint away from the city. These photos were taken in Al Nahda Resort in Barka just an hour away from Muscat.

There I am enjoying the morning sun at Al Nahda Resort Barka Oman.

Health practitioners would agree that the best-known benefit of sunlight is its ability to boost the body’s vitamin D in our skin. Most known benefit of vitamin D according to health practitioners  deficiency are due to lack of outdoor sun exposure. Here I have listed some other benefits of sunlight to our body except increasing vitamin D performance in our body. New research evidence presents that exposure to the sun in appropriate and measured time frames has a number of health benefits unrelated to vitamin D production.

Some benefits of moderate sun exposure:

1. Some doctors believed that exposure to sun reduces the risk and if not completely dissolved breast cancer cells.
2. Sunlight kills bacteria. I remember how the old ladies in our village expose bedding materials into bright open sunlight everyday ;)
3. Good sunlight exposure heals most skin disorders.
4. I have a feeling that sunlight burns cholesterol as you sweat while doing your stuff under the sun thus increasing more oxygen in the body.
5. Exposure to sunlight is a good way to refresh and relax the nerves especially those with hypertension.
6. Doctors believe, that sunlight strengthen immune system as lymphocytes increase when exposed to the sun.
7. I remember how my mom told me to bring out the baby in the sunlight every morning because this increases baby's physical growth and height.
8. From own experience, sunlight cures depression or sadness. Research shows that people who are working in an office during the good sunlight of the day are depriving themselves of one of the benefit of nature and most likely to develop seasonal affective disorder (SAD) another kind of depression which is a result of sunlight deficiency.

Exposure to the sun should be done GRADUALLY! Like me, if you are not used to the sun, then your skin will be more sensitive to it even my eyes! Sunburn can be avoided by taking it slowly.

So what are you waiting for? Hit the outdoor, and enjoy the free benefits of our mother sun giving us everyday! And please don't forget to invite me along...because I love the outdoor :)
