Being in Oman, makes Dubai so accessible either by flight or by road travel. One advantage of road travel is that, it's a lot cheaper than buying flight tickets. Two-way ticket from Muscat to Dubai only costs 10 Omani rials per person, while flights tickets costs from 30-50 Omani rials depending on the season. Choosing the mode of your trip highly depends on your travel purpose. If you just want to go on an adventure/leisure trip, choosing road trip could fit your purpose; however for a business trip or for any other reason you might as well book a flight for convenience. Road trip lasts 4-5 hours while taking a flight takes only an hour and 45 minutes or so.
The great seasons during the year to visit Dubai are between October and March, when definitely the temperatures are bearable as it could get so much hotter. Also if you are considering to go during December and January, they tend to be high season, with a lot of festivals and events which could higher accommodation prices. You might as well take advantage of lower hotel rates from October through November and February through March. During Muslim month of Ramadan it is best to avoid traveling to Dubai or any other Muslim country since schedules can be unstable; and cafes and restaurants are closed during the day to give way to those who are on a "fasting" from sun up to sundown.
